There has been a lot of confusion lately in regards the SUA1500 VS. the SMT1500, APC’s newest 1500VA.  Everyone has been emailing us asking where is the best value. So I am going to attempt and answer that question here for everyone.

In my opinion, the best value comes from the APC Smart-UPS 1500VA,  SUA1500.  The SUA1500 is the classic APC work horse, it’s a solid unit, it’s line interactive, outputs a sine wave, has two big batteries, offers AVR Boost/Drop, surge protection as well as a great run time. It’s been perfected over the years, it’s a great UPS.

The SMT1500 is the newest generation of the APC Smart-UPS 1500Va. It’s a great looking unit, has a great new shiny case and has a nice LCD  display at the front to show you important information. The protection and the functionality is exactly the same as the SUA1500. There aren’t really any big new features.

If you’re looking for a great UPS to protect your server/computer the SUA1500 makes a great choice. If budget is not an issue and you’d like to have the hottest and the newest then the SMT1500 will serve you well.

Don’t forget, a UPS is not like an iPhone, there’s no doubling of processing speed or 8mp front and back cameras. Internally it’s basically the same technology, most of the difference on these units is external. What’s most important is solid protection for the money spent.

Overall, both units offer fantastic protection, quick switching, protection from  power anomalies and run time. If you’re looking to get a great refurbished UPS with new batteries to protect  your equipment, buy the SUA1500.
